The technical college is entered on the side of the street. The entrance leads through a pair of wide half-glass entrance doors to the entrance hall. The hall is vast anв full of sunlight. The ground floor houses a cloakroom, a canteen, a gymnasium, a library, an assembly hall. The assembly hall is large. All kinds of meetings, sittings, gatherings and concerts are usually held there. There are specialized workshops for metal or woodwork at our technical college. The gym occupies the largest hall in the building. It is equipped for a wide range of indoor sports, and no wonder that it is full of pupils both in the day-time and in the evening. Wide stairs lead up to the first and the second floors of the building. The headmaster's room, the teacher's room and the reading-room are situated here. The reading-room is equipped with stands and shelves for book and periodicals, and with tables and chairs for readers. It offers a wide choice of fiction and non-fiction books, magazines and newspapers, not to mention textbooks on the subjects taught at the technical college. The general plan of the upper floors is practically the same: a row of more or less standard rooms along both sides of the floor. The classrooms are mainly of two types: ordinary and specialized. Ordinary classrooms have, as rule, there rows of desk, a teacher's table with a chair and a wide blackboard on the wall behind the teacher's place. These classrooms are used to teach humanities. On the walls of well-known writers, poets, musicians and painters. Specialized classrooms or laboratories are equipped with various instruments and devices necessary for making experiments and practical works. There are all kinds of diagrams, schemes and tables on the walls there. |
